AS LIVE - VT TEAMS & PRODUCER/AP - URGENT

Having heard the content suggested so far for the VTs I am far from happy that there is any sort of clear story there - particularly for the 'On the Road' and 'Day Jobs' Vts.

They are to be assessed on their merits only.

The 'Gig guide' needs a clear idea putting together re:how the presenter is used and content, but is less worrying that the other two VTs.

We will need to meet asap to discuss this - please could everyone involved on the VT teams and Lauren and Dean be around Monday (if poss lunch time) armed with ideas and alternatives!

Additionally - ALL CONTACTS FOR THE BANDS NEEDS LODGING SOMEWHERE CENTRALLY - WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN DONE!??

  1. I had a suggestion that I discussed with Lauren. The Maidstone Fringe Festival is at the start of May, for 5 days, with lots of bands and venues. This could be separate to the gig guide? It could take on a festival feel, really showing the town in a good light. This would be great for the presenter, and the team could look at Glastonbury style V.Ts for inspiration. I thought it would be good to make a VT out of this, interviewing the organiser, the audience about their views on the local music scene, why they support it, and what it means to them. They could include shots of fans, the general atmosphere and feel, there will be street entertainers, BBQ's, street parties on Saturday and Sunday. I would even think that the V.T team could approach the organiser as they have their own website, and ask if they would like to use it on their website after? The Soundcasters are also playing the event. I think there would be plenty of actuality footage from morning until night, as it is five days 12am - 12pm, with LOTS of content due to 60+ acts performing. It could include shots of people in wellie etc to add humor and add to that festival feel. Anyway it's just an idea if people are stuck :)

  2. Its a possibility, but whether there's a purpose in filming it. Plus its leaving it a bit late? I know the organisers I think. They have a magazine. Depends if the organiser/audience is worth talking to, if they have something to say. I'd still count on the presenter giving us the information about what Maidstone has to offer. They've gotta put a lot into 1:30. I've heard the team have had a lot of ideas for the gig guide, they've done a lot of research, they just need to get into the what, where, who, why...

I have bands contacts, I've passed the details onto the producers of the VT's and I have a draft call sheet to bring in Monday.
